Depicted here are 1900 Brothel Candles, they were popular in brothels between 1880 and 1905. They were for both a lightsource and a timer. Once the wax was consumed the session came to an end. They would burn for about 7 minutes.

The price of a prostitute around 1900 was between 50 cents and 10 dollars, depending on the skill and availability. It is not known if the candle was included in that price.
